The defense starts off the year already in big trouble. Pro Bowl linebacker Brian Cushing is suspended for the first 4 competitions of the year. The secondary is not quite good and with Cushing out they are likely to be more troublesome because they will need to help stop the run. Last year, safety Bernard Pollard saved the Texans over and over. He made major plays in the secondary and also was a major run stopper.
The Texans are a squad that has a lot of skill however they do not have much depth. If Schaub or Johnson gets hurt they are done. Their defense is furthermore vulnerable and the loss of Cushing genuinely hurts. The Texans are always viewed as a squad that can make the playoffs. Since Gary Kubiak has had more than enough time, if they do not make it this year they may be looking for a new head coach.
